Did you know that Montmartre during its early & medieval period, remained a rural village outside the city walls of Paris? Dotted with vineyards, farms, and windmills that ground local wheat and pressed grapes - it wasn't until Montmartre's Belle Époque in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that it became a mecca for artists. The village became an irresistible magnet for struggling artists, writers, and poets, including Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, and Vincent van Gogh. The reclaimed terra cotta cobblestone tile lot we recently salvaged from a three-story dilapidated home within Montmartre surely has a few ghost stories to tell. However, it also has an extraordinarily rich patina, a confetti of colors that mirrors Montmartre itself and antique edge detail that is a whimsical testament of her age. Easily over 150-years old. Finally, the diminutive size of a 4 1/2" square creates the most lovely cobblestone installation - a true showstopper for an entryway, hallway, rotunda, bathroom or kitchen floor. We usually sell by the lot, but wanting to share the love that is this tile - we have a minimum of 100 SF.
Recommended Sealer after Installation: Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
Cleaning and Maintenance: Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
