Collonges-la-Rouge is located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France where we located and salvaged an historic French reclaimed terra cotta tile lot. The monks of Charroux Abbey founded a priory in the 8th century which attracted a population of peasants, craftsmen and tradesmen who lived and prospered around its fortified walls.  Surely there were tradesmen who excelled in crafting hand made French terra cotta tiles!  The lot from Collognes-la-Rouge has a definite rouge or red coloring with red browns and charcoal.  It feels nearly medieval.  The surface texture is a well-worn patina, including its edging.  And per usual with all our French reclaimed terra cotta tiles, the craftsmanship is meticulous and its history is authentic.  For a mood board inspiration, we paired this lot with our 18th century antiqued French oak floors in the color: Charcoal.
