Secluded on a hilltop in Central France, we reclaimed a French terra cotta tile hexagon with rich history.  This village, known for its charming medieval stone and half-timbered buildings, one has to pass through the Porte d'Orient and the Porte d'Occident.  These are Charroux's ancient ramparts of clock tower gates.  Once through, the picturesque winding lanes are the backdrop for this classic medieval village.  Although not from medieval times, our latest salvaged French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagon comes from a former fromagerie or cheese shop.  This lot has a beautiful, soft color palette of wheat, blush, cream ochre.  The patina reveals its age of at least 150 years old - with its smooth, stone matte patina.  The quality of this terra cotta tile is seen in the perfect sized edges - where an artisan formed each clay tile one-by-one from a wooden mold.  High-fired in a wood-burning kiln following traditional techniques - one is left imagining a bustling shop filled with those who are hurrying to the mid-day meal, une baguette from the boulangère in one hand and perhaps une Saint-Nectaire cheese in the other.
