Saint-Paul-de-Vence has a rich history dating back to the 13th century.  It was founded as a fortified village due its strategic position on a rocky spur that overlooks the countryside. Over the centuries, it became a haven for artists, writers, and performers, particularly in the 20th century, attracting figures like Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and James Baldwin. Inside its walls, there is a labyrinth of narrow, winding cobblestone streets that lead to the heart of the village.  This is fitting, for the salvaged lot we reclaimed from a French country home in Saint-Paul-de-Vence is small, like the medieval cobblestones we walked upon to arrive at the salvaged site.  I love love this reclaimed terra cotta tile lot.  Its beautiful color range reminds me of a field filled with beautiful French wild flowers.  The stone-like, smooth patina of this clay's surface is a testament to its age of at least 150-years old.  The tile's edges are perfectly historic and soft - yet the hexagonal shape is  perfection attributing to talent of the artisan who fabricated it.  And most of all - its diminutive size makes this French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagon special.  How beautiful this would make a powder room, a master bath, a foyer or kitchen floor.  Grounding or anchoring these joyful colors with one of our antiqued French oak floors in  The Olde Oak Collection: Color - SUSSEX ANTIQUED FRENCH OAK FLOORS would bring into one's home 17th century France that would last for generations to come.
